A 19th century shawl
Circa 1850-1870, probably woven in Paisley
Woven in wool and silk in burgundy, blue, ochre, viridian and red with rows of cartouches bearing foliate motifs amid long juxtaposed botehs and small sprigs, and within a border of scalloped ovals containing leaves. The end strips woven separately and sewn to the main body. With some small imperfections.
