Two panels of Fortuny cotton twill

Circa 1920-1930

The sang de boeuf ground printed in silver with a 15th century Italian pomegranate design. Mariano Fortuny (1871-1949) produced several variations on this popular Renaissance motif in the course of the 1920s and 1930s, and that used here is an exact copy of an original of which there is an example in the collection of the V & A, acc no. 81-1892.

58.5cm (23”) high and 64cm (25⅛”) wide, and 61cm (24”) high and 63cm (24¾”) wide.
