An 18th century lace patterned silk brocade
Circa 1720-1730, probably French
The white plain weave and yellow satin weave ground brocaded in silk and silver metal threads with a symmetrical design of leaves, fruits and trailing flowers decorated with latticed lace motifs. Consisting of one full width of silk, measuring 50.7cm (20”) across including the selvedges, joined to a part width and bordered with later gold braid and backed with a plum coloured taffeta.
