Four fine 17th century tassels

Each with a cylindrical wooden core cross-covered in vellum strips wrapped in gilt metal thread and bordered with coral coloured silk, with a ruff of green silk at the bottom above a dense skirt in polychrome silk and gilt thread and another at the top below a pear shaped mould decorated with silk and metal threads in a herringbone pattern. The tassels linked by a silk cord arranged in the manner of the tasselated cord of a galero, with a flat Turk’s head knot at the centre and round herringbone patterned barrels at the other cross points.

The tassels, including the skirts, 20cm (7⅞”) high, and the whole conformation 75cm (29½”) high.
