Two pairs of Fortuny curtains
Circa 1970
Of ‘Uccelli’ design, with birds perched amid scrolling and flowering vines and tendrils printed in antique yellow on a parchment coloured cotton ground, the pattern based on 17th century French textiles and created and first produced by Fortuny during the 1920’s. An early example of the design may be seen in the collection of The Whitworth, Manchester, accession no. T.1996.232.2, with another at the Art Institute of Chicago, ref. no. 1987.375.3.
Lined and interlined.
Each curtain 280cm (110¼”) high and 126cm (49⅝”) wide.
